2023-2024 EMPOWHER TEAM TRYOUT INFO
We will hold tryouts for our local + regional club teams (11U-16U) as well as a few remaining spots on our Elite travel teams for 12U | 13U | 14U | 15U.
2024 Team Levels
- Local (11-16U) - Includes AAU Membership, practices ~2x / week, five local 1/2 day touraments
- Regional - Includes local benefits, USAV Membership, and 1 or 2 regional tournaments within ~3 hours of travel time.
- Elite - includes regional benefits, extended training period to include 2023 practices + agility/speed training, additional regional tournaments including USAV Qualifier tournament
Pre-Tryout
1. Register for tryouts / if you cannot make the specified date and time - please indicate this in your registration and we will be in touch to schedule a makeup session. Your AAU Member # will be required here.
2. Practice! We will have skills clinics to get you prepped and ready to do your best for tryouts. Pre-registration is preferred to ensure we have appropriate coaching staffed. MORE INFO COMING SOON!
TRYOUT INFO
We are excited to continue growing talent in our 4th official season. Our season tryouts will be held @ Beaches Chapel School Oct 29 start times by division:
11U | 12U | 13U | 14U - 1:00 - 3:15
15U | 16U - 3:00 - 5:00
Athletes should come to tryouts prepared to work. They will be evaluated on their skills, athleticism, attitude and teamwork. Please be sure each athlete has a water bottle and kneepads.
All participants will be given a number t-shirt the day of the tryout. Team coaches will be evaluating players on volleyball skills (individual and team), athleticism, as well as player commitment and coachability.
AT TRYOUTS:
Athletes will be asked what position(s) they are trying out for. Coaches may also ask them to try other positions as they see fit to build up the strongest team possible. Tryouts will evaluate players on overall skills as well as positional skills.
AFTER TRYOUTS:
Athletes will be notified via email within 24 hours of the Oct 29th tryout if they made a team and or are requested to come back for additional assessment.
NEW THIS SEASON.....
We are excited to introduce the "EmpowHER Elite" program for the coming 2023-24 season. EmpowHER Elite teams will travel regionally exposing athletes to a higher level of competition. We anticipate having teams for the 12U, 13U, 14U and 15U age divisions in the coming season. Note, these teams are intended to be select in nature and we will only have one EmpowHER Elite team per age group.
Being on a travel team is a commitment. Travel teams will practice one time a week in September and October and two times a week November through April. Athletes are expected to make all practices unless excused as practice is critical to get the most growth out of both the individual and the team.
The goal of our EmpowHER Elite program is to encourage athletes to compete at their highest level of play. These teams will attend larger tournaments throughout the region exposing these teams to higher caliber volleyball for their respective age division. We will keep travel locations within a 3 hour drive radius and aim to stay as close to home as possible while keeping strong competition in mind. We realize travel volleyball is a commitment beyond the athlete themselves and respect the family unit as a whole.
